Percy Sledge who sang the song 'When a Man Loves a Woman', is dead

The R&B singer Percy Sledge who sang the popular song; "When a Man loves a Woman", which top the chart in 1966 is dead. He died yesterday April 14,2015 in Baton Rouge, Louisiana at the age of 74. His death was confirmed by the Artists International Management

His agent and manager 'Mark Lyman', said he had liver cancer for which he underwent surgery in 2014

When A Man Loves a Woman was Percy Sledge's first recording for Atlantic Records after a patient at the hospital he was working for introduced him to the record producer ‘Quin Ivy’. It reached No. 1 on the pop charts in 1966 and sold more than a million copies, becoming the label's first gold record
